    Sandals Honeymoon Hopping

we were thinking it might be fun to have our wedding in jamaica and then go to another island for our honeymoon. it turns out that sandals offers this opportunity with "hopping" between resorts or between islands. would we have to book our hops when we book our wedding stay, or could we wait until we're there and decide we want to go to another island?

    hey kitty!

i would definitely book your the other sandals resorts stay when you book your wedding stay. quite often the other sandals resorts will sell out and /or the flights will sell out and many of the interisland flights only go on certain days caribbean air and liat being the two main carriers. most often you'll find you'll need to do a main carrier such as american and those flights will route you back to miami and then onto another caribbean island!

oh dear, we were picturing jaunting around the islands on little water planes or something. we would lose a whole day going back to miami! isn't it funny how easy things seem in movies and they are incredibly complicated in real life. well obviously we will stick to one island and maybe make reservations at a couple of different resorts there (before we go!).

i didn't mean to discourage you! there area couple of islands that do have the smaller planes that go between without the stop back into miami

one airline you should check out is liat- they have a terrible reputation for being on time though! they don't fly into jamaica at this time. i highlighted the sandals destinations.
destinations: dominican republic (santo domingo), puerto rico (san juan), u.s. virgin islands (st. thomas, st. croix), british virgin islands, st. maarten, anguilla, st. kitts & nevis, antigua, guadaloupe, dominica, st. lucia, barbados, st. vincent & the grenadines (including bequia), grenada, trinidad & tobago.

and the other is caribbean airlines - there are flights out of jamaica to other caribbean islands!

a very easy sandals to to do two resorts on separate islands is in the bahamas- between sandals royal bahamian and sandals emerald bay!

oh, how fun! well, we will give it more thought! since it will be just the two of us and we won't have to worry about a group of wedding guests being delayed or missing flights, the idiosyncrasies of local airlines will be less of a problem. we are used to traveling in out of the way places where people don't think of time and schedules quite so rigidly as we do here.

kitty, that does sound like a lovely idea if you would be able to travel to different islands during your stay. maybe if some destinations have neighboring islands close by you could could hop on a privately flown plain that could fly you from island to island.

yes naveah, doesn't it sound romantic and luxurious? we have decided to stay on jamaica though, since even quick flights would eat into our beach time. we have a total of ten days, and with the wedding taking up the first four days, we are hoarding the remainder for fun and relaxation.
