Thread: How I managed to choose from all these resorts

How I managed to choose from all these resorts

this was not easy! after looking at the hundreds of resorts all over the riviera maya, i had narrowed it down to six possibilities: playacar palace, moon palace cancun, grand velas, dreams tulum, the bungalows at el dorado maroma, or possibly a private villa. the private villa idea seemed like more work than a resort, and the bungalows would not have worked for some of my older guests. grand velas was just too expensive to expect most people to stay there. finally, i just decided between the palace resorts and the dreams resort based on which pictures i liked! the rooms at dreams tulum look more spacious and better decorated, so that's my final choice. (i think.)

i do think we might go to grand velas for the honeymoon. it is beautiful!

thank you for sharing your decision process! i don't even know where to start - the whole thing seems like a moving target somehow. i don't want to spend months picking a venue, but i don't want to make a hasty decision either. how long did it take you?

some people take a chance and just flip a coin. they take seriously the options they pick, but when the time comes, they make the final choice quickly.

i think it is very important to give serious thought when deciding where you will get married. after all, this is a day you want to look back on with great memories for the rest of your life!

yeah, not easy, is it? everything looks good online. we had a few of the same hotels on our list, too. we chose moon palace because we have a lot of golfers in our family. even things like that can help with the decision making process.

we actually looked at moon palace, too! in the end, though, we decided on adults only, so unico it is! has anyone scheduled a pre-wedding visit?

wow, isn't that the truth!?! one of the reasons we (agents) travel so much is to go experience all the different resorts first hand to know what really sets them apart. going to cancun/riviera maya 7 times a year sounds glamorous, but it really is a ton of work and effort. it is what makes us good, though.

as for pre-wedding visits... our clients tend to use our experiences/recommendations instead of spending time and money on a pre- visit. this allows them to use that extra money on their wedding day instead, and take a few more days off for their honeymoon. very few couples travel to the resort prior to the wedding. it is not usually necessary.

I also didn't want to spend months picking a wedding venue for our special day. I picked Event Venue Toronto by the recommendations of my coworkers who celebrated their wedding day there. I never regretted my option

It is such a hard process to find something that will work for everyone! Our travel agent was a huge help in our process of deciding where to go!

Hi ya'll! I'm so confused! I've been looking online and everything is running together. All the options look the same. I'm a planner by nature, so I don't mind doing the research, but I think I'm driving my fiance nuts over this. Time to get a professional involved I think. I thought I could do it, but I guess not!
